Collectively in Bloom: Gardening and Wellness

Growing more than gardens.

Collectively in Bloom: Garden & Wellness brings people together through gardening, food, nature, education, and shared experiences.

Rooted in our belief that relationships are among our greatest resources, we create opportunities for people of all ages to learn, grow, connect, and care for themselves, one another, and the spaces around them.

From seasonal gardening and wellness workshops to plant education, food experiences, community growing projects, and our annual You Grow Girl! celebration, we make growing approachable, meaningful, and fun—whether you have a backyard garden or you’re planting your very first seed.

The heart of Collectively in Bloom is the people who help bring it to life.

Every garden needs people willing to nurture what has been planted. Mia and Ronald bring different gifts, shared purpose, and a genuine love of helping others grow.

From garden to table, propagation to plant adoption, and children planting their first seed to adults discovering something new, they help turn gardening into opportunities for connection, education, wellness, and community.

Different gifts. Shared purpose.

Growing together.

Mia Hurd brings a love of gardening, food, wellness, and community to Collectively in Bloom. As founder of SlimmsKitchen, a food enthusiast, and aspiring food scientist, Mia believes that what we grow can nourish far more than our bodies—it can strengthen our connection to ourselves, one another, and our community.

What began as a simple desire to garden became a personal journey of healing, discipline, and growth. Today, Mia uses that experience to help others explore the relationship between growing food, eating well, caring for the earth, and caring for ourselves.

Through Collectively in Bloom: Garden & Wellness, Mia helps create hands-on opportunities for our community to learn about gardening, food, and wellness in ways that are practical, welcoming, and accessible.

Ronald brings together two things he genuinely loves—children and plants. As an elementary school teacher and passionate plant enthusiast, he brings an educator’s heart, patience, and hands-on approach to Collectively in Bloom: Garden & Wellness.

From plant propagation and repotting to plant care, rescue, growing, and maintenance, Ronald enjoys sharing the knowledge and techniques that help plants thrive. More importantly, he has a gift for turning that knowledge into experiences that are approachable, engaging, and fun for both children and adults.

Ronald also leads our Bloom Buddy Plant Adoption program, where children have the opportunity to choose and adopt a plant of their own while learning how to care for it. Through the experience, young growers are introduced to plant needs, responsibility, nurturing, patience, and the excitement of watching something flourish because of their care.

Whether he’s propagating a new plant, rescuing one that needs a little extra attention, teaching someone how to care for their plants with confidence, or helping a child meet their first Bloom Buddy, Ronald reminds us that growing is something we learn by doing.

A Living Garden. A Lasting Legacy.

Where Missy Still Blooms is a special project of Collectively in Bloom, created to transform love, memory, and connection into something that can continue to grow.

Our vision is to create a living community garden where flowers, fresh food, learning, wellness, and relationships grow side by side— a welcoming space where children can put their hands in the soil, neighbors can share knowledge, and our community can experience the joy, connection, and healing that can come from growing together.

The garden will be a place to plant, learn, gather, reflect, nourish, and give—creating opportunities for hands-on education, youth experiences, gardening and wellness workshops, community growing, and shared harvests.

More than a garden, Where Missy Still Blooms will be a living expression of what The Best Friends Collective believes: relationships are among our greatest resources, and what we nurture together can continue to grow long after us.

Because what we plant in one another can bloom for generations.
